    Half Asstrology Scorpio

Magnetic, Mysterious, and Maybe a Little Extra

Scorpio runs from about October 20th to November 20th.
    Its anima is the scorpion.

What is it about this water sign that captivates, terrifies, and makes you feel like you’re either in a spy thriller or a soap opera? Or some combination of the two.

Scorpios are ruled by two planets: Mars, the warrior planet that’s all about action, aggression, and getting what you want, and Pluto, the planet of transformation, death, and rebirth. Essentially, Scorpios are warriors on a mission to dig deep, break things apart, and rebuild them into something far more intense (and possibly more terrifying). They have an air of mystery and an agenda that’s two steps ahead of everyone else.

Pluto gives Scorpio its infamous deep nature, like when they’re pondering life’s biggest questions while you’re trying to figure out what you want for dinner. This planetary combo also explains why Scorpios are so good at reinventing themselves. They can emerge from the ashes of their mistakes (or someone else’s) stronger, like a phoenix rising—except this phoenix probably just survived an emotional apocalypse. And loved every second of it.

Scorpios have layers. They’re like onions. Or ogres. But much sexier.
This water sign is notoriously private, intense, and magnetic.
A Scorpio feels everything at an 11 out of 10. If they’re into you, you’ll know (or feel) it. If they hate you, well, you might feel that even more. They’re not interested in surface-level anything, whether it’s conversation, relationships, or life in general. If you’re talking to a Scorpio about the weather, they’re silently judging your soul. For them, it’s go deep or go home.

And ever try getting a straight answer from a Scorpio about their feelings? Good luck. They’re masters of emotional espionage. Scorpios will know everything about you (including that embarrassing thing you did in 5th grade), while you’ll be lucky to know their middle name. Their inner world is a vault, and only the chosen few get a key. And even if you do get the key, expect a few laser beams and booby traps along the way.

    Social Engineering
Scorpios aren’t the most social butterflies, but they can command a room when they want to. Typically, they’re choosy about their friends. They prefer a tight-knit circle over a wide network of acquaintances. They need people who get them, who can handle their intensity without flinching.

But if you are part of their inner circle, congratulations—you’ve won the loyalty lottery. Scorpios will defend their friends to the death (not literally… probably). However, don’t expect them to show up for every little thing. They value their time and may disappear into their emotional cave now and then. But when they’re present, they’re all in—Scorpios don’t do small talk.

    In Love (or Lust)
If you’re dating a Scorpio, congratulations on signing up for an emotional rollercoaster. Buckle up. Scorpios love deeply, and they expect nothing less from you. They aren’t the “casual dating” type. When they commit, they’re all in, and they expect the same level of intensity from their partners. But this passion can border on obsession.

They don’t just “like” things—they consume them, body and soul. They can make you feel like the only person in the world, which sounds romantic until you realize they can also make you feel like a fly under a microscope. But hey, at least you know you’ve got their attention!

But Scorpio’s intensity can sometimes tip into jealousy and possessiveness. They won’t admit it, of course, because, well, they’re too proud. But don’t be surprised if they give the side-eye to anyone who seems too interested in you. They like to feel secure in their relationships, but they’re not always great at communicating their insecurities. Instead, they might test your loyalty in weird, subtle ways—just to make sure you’re as committed as they are.

Scorpios crave deep emotional connections, and they’ll push you to confront your feelings, even if you’re not ready. It’s like therapy, but the therapist has you in tears and then takes advantage of you on their couch…

If you ever brave breaking up with a Scorpio, good luck with that minefield. Scorpios don’t take rejection well. Break their heart, and you might become the subject of their ‘emotional rebirth.’ They’ll get over you… eventually… after they’ve filled a notebook with sad poems, or burned your love letters in a ritual cleansing, or created a website to inform the world about all your misdeeds… But when they’re done with you, they’re really done. Like, ghosted into the abyss.

    Work Bitch.
In the workplace, Scorpios are driven and strategic. They have laser focus, and once they set their sights on a goal, they’ll stop at nothing to achieve it. This makes them great leaders… if you’re into leaders who may also be plotting a corporate coup behind the scenes. Seriously though, Scorpios thrive in roles where they can use their keen instincts, analytical minds, and, let’s face it, occasional sneakiness and manipulation.

    Best Jobs for Scorpios?
Detective: Because no one’s better at uncovering hidden truths than a Scorpio on a mission.
Psychologist: Understanding the deepest, darkest corners of the human mind? Sign them up.
Surgeon: The focus and precision of surgery appeals to their intense nature, and they’re not squeamish when it comes to life, death, or transformation.
CEO: Scorpios have the determination, focus, and strategy to run the show. Plus, their charisma draws people in.

Scorpio Motto: Trust No One (Except Themselves)
Scorpios don’t trust easily. They view the world with a healthy dose of skepticism, and they assume there’s always something hidden beneath the surface. In their minds, life is a chess game, and they’re always thinking five moves ahead.

Their ability to read people is borderline psychic (thank you, water sign intuition), and they use this power to navigate through life. But here’s the catch: Scorpios can be a little too suspicious. Sometimes, they’re seeing plots where none exist. Their challenge in life is learning to let go of control and realize not everyone is out to get them… but even then, they’re probably still watching you.

So, what have we learned? Scorpios are capable of great passion, love, and loyalty—but also destruction, obsession, and drama. If you’re lucky enough to be in a Scorpio’s life, prepare for one of two things: the best ride of your life, or an intense emotional reckoning. Either way, you won’t forget it.

  • Half Asstrology Libra

    Half Asstrology Libra

    Diplomatic Chaos.
Libra runs from about September 20th to October 20th.
    Its anima is the swan.

Libra, the sign of the scales.
Ruled by Venus, the planet of love, all things beauty, and a suspicious amount of online window shopping.
If you’ve ever met a Libra, you know there’s an internal teeter-totter that would give even the most seasoned playground veteran whiplash. Libras are the diplomats of the zodiac, driven by the constant urge to mediate between the extremes in life—like whether they should order tacos or pizza….
    Spoiler: they’ll get both. Eventually…

A Libra’s goal is balance. They’re the sign of the scales, after all. But here’s the catch—balance isn’t something Libras possess naturally. It’s something they seek with all the fervor of a detective on a 90’s cop show. When a Libra says they’re “working on themselves,” it usually means they’re trying to balance their 37 new interests, a half-baked career change idea, and a social life that rivals Paris Fashion Week.

The quest for balance in a Libra’s life is real. They want a perfectly styled Instagram feed, a meaningful career, and to make sure everyone at the party is having a good time—all while looking effortlessly chic. But balancing all these desires often leads to some infamous indecisiveness. You know how some people can’t decide what to watch on Netflix? Multiply that by a thousand, and you get a Libra staring at a menu. Libras are extra thoughtful, considerate, and afraid of making the wrong decision… for hours at a time. Whether it’s picking out an outfit or choosing a soulmate, Libras will weigh all the options—twice—because, honestly, you deserve the best version of them.

Take their love for beauty, for instance. Ruled by Venus, Libras are deeply attuned to aesthetics. You’ll never see one casually toss on an outfit without a solid 15-minute contemplation on color coordination. The side effect? Well, you might miss the first half of the party waiting for them to pick the right shoes, but hey, they’ll look fabulous when they arrive.

Libras are often called the justice warriors of the zodiac. Libras care deeply about fairness and equality, and they’ll go out of their way to make sure that things are done right. A Libra will argue for your right to not be shortchanged at the grocery store, even if it takes them all day to get around to it. Fairness is a big deal to them, but don’t let their peacekeeping reputation fool you into thinking they’re passive.

When things are unfair or unbalanced, Libras become surprisingly fierce. You’ll see their air-sign intellect come into full play when they’re advocating for what’s right, combining rational argumentation with that irresistible Libran charm. The only thing more dangerous than a Libra with a cause? A Libra who’s decided they’re actually right in the first place.

Now diving into Libra’s love for all things social… Libras hate being alone, which is ironic because deciding which friend to hang out with is a monumental task. As the sign that thrives on relationships, Libras live to surround themselves with people, beauty, and harmony. They’re the ones who keep the group chat alive, organizing brunches and wine nights, making sure everyone is invited (and looking good).

But be warned: beneath that friendly exterior is a master manipulator of social etiquette. Libras are the zodiac’s true diplomats. Got a fight brewing between friends? Libras will smooth it over, not because they’re conflict-averse, but because they have a deep, subconscious need for everyone to get along. For Libras, harmony isn’t just an idea—it’s an art form. And like any good artist, they’ll make you believe the masterpiece is yours, even if they painted it.

Libra’s desire for perfection can also drive their friends (and themselves) a little nuts. From aesthetics to social dynamics, Libras want everything to look good, feel good, and be good. When things fall short, it’s a personal affront. But while they may get frustrated, they’ll always keep that charming smile intact, because nothing disrupts Libra’s idea of perfection more than looking like they’re upset.

Behind the scenes, though, they’re constantly recalibrating, figuring out how to get things just so. Whether it’s balancing a group project or picking the best restaurant for a date, a Libra’s brain is always whirring with possibilities. They don’t just want things to work out—they want them to work out beautifully.

When it comes to love, Libras are hopeless (and sometimes, helpless) romantics. Being ruled by Venus, the planet of love, means that Libras idealize relationships and love the idea of being in love. They’re the sign most likely to write poetry by candlelight or binge-watch a romantic series and cry over fictional breakups. A Libra’s love life is a performance in itself, complete with grand gestures, poetic declarations, and sometimes, yes, a bit of drama.

But here’s the thing about Libras in love—they can’t stand anything too intense for too long. Drama, to a Libra, is like spice: a little bit livens things up, but too much? They’re out of there. Libras want romance that’s as balanced as their lifestyle dreams: equal parts passion, tenderness, and the occasional argument that gets solved with an elegant apology and a carefully planned date night.

In the end, Libras are complex, charming, and occasionally exasperating creatures. They strive for balance but often find themselves perpetually balancing. Whether they’re keeping the peace, indulging their love of beauty, or trying to make the perfect decision, Libras are always seeking harmony in a world that loves to throw them curveballs.

If you have a Libra in your life, cherish them. Just don’t ask them to choose where to eat tonight. You’ll be in for a long evening of “I don’t mind, you decide.” And remember: when a Libra finally makes up their mind? Trust that it’ll be the most aesthetically pleasing, socially diplomatic, and perfectly curated decision you’ve ever seen. And probably Instagrammed.

  • Half Asstrology Virgo

    Half Asstrology Virgo

    Virgo

The Zen Master of Multitasking (With a Side of Overthinking)
Virgo run from about August 20th until September 20th.
Its anima is the ‘Virgin,’ or maiden woman.

If there’s one thing a Virgo knows how to do, it’s getting things done—and then redoing them just to be sure. These earth signs are the zodiac’s equivalent of that one friend who color-codes their planner, even if it’s digital. The one who has backup plans for their backup plans and a stash of hand sanitizer that rivals a hospital’s supply.

But don’t mistake their love for organization as simply being “neat freaks.” Oh no, it’s much deeper than that. Virgos are on a never-ending quest for perfection, and it’s not just about their sock drawer (though it is immaculate). They’re also perfecting their work, their relationships, and, if you’re lucky, you. They are the Project Managers of the Zodiac.

Picture this: A Virgo enters the office at 8:00 a.m. sharp. Their desk is already clutter-free, and they’ve got a to-do list that looks more like a battle strategy. Virgos are natural planners. They’ll take one look at a chaotic situation and, within minutes, have a step-by-step action plan that could rival a military operation. But beware, colleagues, because while a Virgo will get the job done—and done well—they’re also the ones most likely to be quietly judging your time management skills. Miss a deadline? They’ll smile politely, but inside, they’re mentally reorganizing your entire workflow.

It’s not just about being efficient, though. For Virgos, work is a reflection of who they are. They strive for excellence, and nothing less will do. If you ever want to make a Virgo twitch, just tell them you “winged it” on a project. They’ll likely need a moment (or ten) to process such a heinous crime against productivity.

When it comes to relationships, Virgos might not be the grand gesture type, but they’re the ones who will remember your favorite snack, the exact way you like your coffee, and that one time you mentioned you hated the color orange. They’re attentive, detail-oriented, and will often show love in ways that are so subtle, you might miss them if you’re not paying attention.

However, this attention to detail also means they notice everything. And I do mean everything. Did you leave your shoes in the hallway again? Prepare for a polite, but firm, reminder that the shoe rack exists for a reason. Didn’t close the toothpaste cap? That’s a conversation waiting to happen. It’s not always ideal, but it’s really just their way of showing they care. A Virgo’s love language is constructive criticism. They genuinely believe that helping you be the best version of yourself is the greatest gift they can give. And who can argue with that? Well, anyone who’s had their Netflix queue rearranged “for better viewing efficiency,” but that’s beside the point.

Life for a Virgo is a series of puzzles waiting to be solved, and they’re determined to find the most efficient way to piece it all together. From the moment they wake up to the second they finally let themselves relax (which might take a while), they’re constantly evaluating, analyzing, and optimizing. Take, for example, their approach to grocery shopping. While most of us might wander the aisles aimlessly, throwing in items on a whim, Virgos have a plan. They’ve mapped out the store in their head, know exactly what they need, and have probably calculated the fastest route to get in and out with minimal human interaction. Efficiency is their mantra, and they live by it.

But here’s the kicker: For all their practicality, Virgos also have a soft spot for life’s little imperfections—just don’t expect them to admit it. They’re the ones who’ll tell you the importance of a tidy space but secretly keep a junk drawer “for emergencies.” They’ll preach the gospel of eating healthy, but have a hidden stash of chocolate for those days when perfectionism becomes a bit too much to handle.

Virgos are the problem-solvers of the zodiac. Have an issue? A Virgo will have at least three solutions ready to go before you’ve even finished explaining the problem. They thrive on making things better—whether it’s fixing a broken system at work, organizing a charity event, or simply helping a friend navigate a tricky situation.

But with great problem-solving skills comes great responsibility. So, they often take on more than their fair share, not because they have to, but because they genuinely believe they’re the best person for the job. And let’s be honest, they probably are. But this can lead to burnout if they’re not careful. It’s one thing to optimize your own life, but when you start trying to optimize everyone else’s, things can get a little overwhelming.

However, if there’s one thing a Virgo knows, it’s how to bounce back. After all, they’ve already got a contingency plan in place. So, if you see a Virgo looking a little stressed, just remind them that it’s okay to let go sometimes. They might not listen right away, but hey, it’s worth a shot.

Virgos are the unsung heroes of everyday life, the ones who keep the world running smoothly while the rest of us are still looking for our keys. They may be perfectionists, but they’re also compassionate, reliable, and surprisingly down-to-earth. So, the next time you meet a Virgo, thank them for making the world a more organized, efficient, and slightly neurotic place.

And if they offer to rearrange your spice rack, just smile and let them—it’s easier that way.

  • Half Asstrology Leo

    Half Asstrology Leo

Lions, and attention, and touching, oh my…
Leo runs from about July 20th until August 20th.
    Its anima is the Lion.

Ah, the majestic Leo—the cosmic lion of the zodiac jungle, with a roar that demands attention. Let’s unpack this starry personality from mane to tail, shall we?
Leos are born leaders, strutting through life with the grace of royalty. Ruled by the sun, they exude warmth and confidence, often the life of any party. You can spot them effortlessly. They’re the ones basking in the spotlight, probably surrounded by an adoring entourage. Their charisma is magnetic, drawing people in like moths to a flame. After all, who can resist the charm of someone who knows they were born to shine?

Much like their lion symbol, Leos possess a fearless heart. Challenges? They see them as opportunities to showcase their bravery. Whether it’s standing up for what they believe in or diving headfirst into a new venture, Leos charge ahead with courage that borders on audacity. Failure isn’t a setback but a lesson. A mere scratch on their armor.

Leos are very creative, natural-born artists, whether they’re painting masterpieces, belting out tunes, or crafting clever jokes. Their creativity isn’t just a hobby—it’s a lifeline, fueling their passion and zest for life. Life is their stage, and they’re the star actors delivering Oscar-worthy performances. From epic meltdowns to grand romantic gestures, they live for the theatrics. But hey, who wants a boring life anyway? With a Leo around, every day feels like a blockbuster movie.

But, behind their proud exterior lies a heart as big as their ego. Leos are incredibly generous, showering their loved ones with gifts, compliments, and unwavering support. Need someone to cheer you on during a tough time? Call a Leo—they’ll rally the troops and throw in a motivational speech for good measure. And once you’ve earned a Leo’s trust, you’ve earned a fierce ally for life. Loyalty is non-negotiable for Leos. They stand by their friends and family through thick and thin. Cross them, though, and you might feel the sting of their roar. Forgiveness isn’t their strong suit, but hey, they’re kings and queens of their domains—they set the rules.

Speaking of a Leos affection… For Leos, touch isn’t just a casual gesture—it’s a profound expression of affection and connection. Whether it’s a warm hug, a playful pat on the back, or an affectionate hand on the shoulder, physical touch speaks volumes to a Leo’s heart. They thrive on physical closeness and intimacy, finding reassurance and love in the sensation of being physically connected to their loved ones.

In conclusion, Leos are the sun-kissed warriors of the zodiac, blazing their trail with courage, creativity, and a touch of theatrical flair. They may have their lion-sized egos and dramatic tendencies, but their hearts are as golden as the sun that rules them. So, next time you encounter a Leo, bask in their warmth, applaud their performance, and remember—life’s more thrilling with a Leo by your side.

Crabby & Caring: The Cancer Chronicles

Cancer runs from about June 20th until July 20th.
    Its anima is the Crab.
The crab symbolism is believed to have originated in Greek mythology when one giant crab, having been called upon by Hera (the queen of the Olympian gods), threw his claws in the mix to help the Hydra when it was faced with battling Heracles. The crab’s reward for his sacrifice was a place in the heavens.

Ah, Cancer, the celestial crustacean. Its shell as impenetrable as its emotional fortress. Picture a crab scuttling sideways, retreating into its shell at the slightest hint of danger. Like the crab, Cancerians are masters of the sidestep, preferring to evade confrontation like a seasoned diplomat. But don’t be fooled by their seemingly shy demeanor; behind those pincers lies a heart as vast and deep as the ocean. And like the ocean, it’s filled with beautiful wonders, and just a hint of imminent danger.

Like its ruling heavenly body, the moon, Cancerians experience phases. One moment they’re riding high on the crest of happiness, the next they’re swept away by a tsunami of feels. Their moods ebb and flow like the tides, influenced by the cosmic dance of the planets. And much like the crab lives between the worlds of the sea and the earth, Cancers have strongholds in both the intuitive and physical realms. Therefore, if you find yourself caught in the undertow of a Cancerian’s emotional rollercoaster, ride with them. Offer a steady hand and a listening ear; a snack is always a good idea.  Before long, the storm will pass, and you’ll bask in the calm waters of their affection once more.

With the moon as their celestial compass, Cancers possess an innate sense of intuition that borders on the supernatural. They can read between the lines of your words, sensing the unspoken truths that lie beneath the surface. Don’t bother trying to hide your feelings from a Cancerian; they’ll see right through your façade with the clarity of a crystal ball. Instead, embrace their empathetic nature and let them guide you through the labyrinth of your emotions. And don’t lie to a Cancer, their bull shit detector is unmatched.

Cancerians are creatures of comfort, seeking solace in the sanctuary of home. Their nest is their castle, adorned with sentimental trinkets and cozy corners where they can retreat from the chaos of the outside world. Need a hug or a comforting meal? Look no further than the nearest Cancerian abode. They’ll welcome you with open arms and cook you a feast fit for a king, nourishing both body and soul. Their ability to assume the absolute worst and still hope for the best is a skill crafted over time; building up their shells like a lavish, upper class, cold war bunker. When you’re in need, whatever the need, they can help. And with family a main focus in their lives, if you’re lucky enough to be welcomed into a Cancerian’s inner circle, consider yourself part of the family. They’ll treat you like kin, showering you with affection and support whenever you need it most.

So that is the conundrum that is Cancer. They are the parents of the zodiac, from their tough shells and defensive, murderous claws, to their safe, cuddly, squishy insides. These crabs never cease to amaze with their depth and complexity. The next time you encounter a Cancerian in the wild, approach with caution, an open heart, and I can’t stress this enough, bring an offering of snacks. You may just find yourself swept away by the tide of their love and laughter, leaving you longing for another VIP pass into the shell.

    Half Asstrology Gemini

Alright, picture this: the Sun struts into the Zodiacal Nightclub, and the bartender says, “Hey, what’s your sign?” And the Sun, being all flashy and effervescent, throws up jazz hands and declares, “I’m in Gemini, baby!”
The bartender cringes, it’s going to be a long night…..

Gemini runs from about May 20th until June 20th.
It’s represented by the twins, Castor and Pollux; but the fox is often attributed as the anima of Gemini.
You want more info on these twins and how they relate to Gemini being known as, well, crazy? Take a dive down their Grecian family history and enjoy the cluster fuck.

Gemini is an air sign, representing adaptability, curiosity, and communication. Having the Sun in Gemini is like having a backstage pass to the cosmic library. They’re the ultimate information sponge, soaking up knowledge faster than a ShamWow on a spilled drink. If trivia were an Olympic sport, they’d be a gold medalist. Their mind is so quick, it’s already finished reading this sentence twice.

Like the twins they’re symbolized by, Geminis can exhibit dualistic qualities and have the ability to see both sides of a situation. As such, those with the Sun in Gemini may have a… “multifaceted personality” with seemingly “contradictory” traits….
They may be both outgoing and introspective, logical and intuitive, serious and playful. The introverted extroverts, the logical dreamers, the serious jokesters.
Gemini’s often have a wide circle of friends and acquaintances and enjoy engaging in social activities that allow them to meet new people and exchange ideas.

However, this can sometimes lead to inconsistency or a tendency to be superficial, as Geminis may struggle with staying focused or delving deeply into one subject or relationship for an extended period. Their minds are constantly buzzing with new ideas and perspectives, which can make them appear flighty or indecisive to others. That old adage about a split personality Gemini is essentially true. But learning to embrace and integrate these dualities is key to understanding and expressing their authentic self.

Boredom is their sworn enemy, and they’ll go to great lengths to avoid stagnation, whether it’s embarking on a spontaneous road trip, diving into a new passion project, or engaging in a spirited debate on the nature of existence. Attention span? Well, let’s just say it’s about as stable as a house of cards in a hurricane. Learning to harness their energy and focus it on their goals can help you overcome this tendency.

To the Gemini’s out there, you’re the chameleon of the zodiac. Stop pretending you don’t ride the crazy train, and that the train isn’t running on a roller coaster track. Use those traits to your advantage and lean into the stereotype.

  • Half Asstrology Taurus

    Half Asstrology Taurus

It’s a new month, and this month the astrological wheel turns into Taurus season.

Taurus runs from about April 20th until May 20th.
    Its anima is the bull.
The bull represents strength, stability, and determination.

Taureans are known for their reliability and steadfastness. Once they set their sights on a goal, they use that bull-headedness to pursue it with unwavering patience and persistence. They are reliable and dependable.

But don’t be fooled by the big, giant, normally calm bull… You piss it off, you’re going to get those horns, with extreme prejudice. While Taurus’s determination can be an asset, it can also manifest as stubbornness. Once they’ve made up their minds, it can be challenging to sway them from their course of action. This can sometimes lead to conflicts, especially when they clash with others who have opposing views.

Being an earth sign, Taureans have a deep connection to nature and the natural world. They often find solace and peace in outdoor settings and may have a green thumb, enjoying activities such as gardening or hiking.

With that strong earth connection, Taureans tend to approach life in a sensible and pragmatic manner. Stability is highly valued by Taurus individuals. They prefer a secure and predictable environment where they can feel grounded and comfortable. This stability-seeking nature can sometimes make them resistant to change or overly cautious.

That need for security often creates a strong attachment to material possessions and financial security. They work hard to attain the comforts and luxuries they desire and may have a tendency to accumulate wealth and possessions as a measure of success.

The desire for material comfort also gives way to a deep appreciation for more sensual pleasures. They definitely fit the dichotomy of work hard / play hard. They are often drawn to indulging in fine food or luxurious and beautiful surroundings. This sensuality also extends to their love lives, as they seek security and intimacy in relationships. It’s not enough to have a good home, they want a nice home.

Overall, not a bad person to have in your apocalypse squad, they’ll work hard to make things comfortable and are reliable…. Just stay on that good side and approach disagreement calmly. There won’t be much sympathy if they decide you’re blocking their trajectory and will happily feed you to the zombies.

  • Half Asstrology Aries

    Half Asstrology Aries

Astrology is… weird. And by that, I mean, astrology is either presented in a really basic, overly simplified way – or an insanely overcomplicated, ‘you have to read thousands of pages to really understand it’ kind of way.

How about let’s find a middle ground where we present the Basics+ (™ pending).
(j/k, you think we have the money for that?)

Anywho. This will be the first installment of an ongoing series. Some of this might be repetitive for those of you seasoned, but it’s meant to be fairly comprehensive. And hey, if you have questions or comments or suggestions about topics for this series or really any other pagany topic you’d like our newsletter to expand on, drop a comment and reach out!

Astrology is a festival of lights….

Or… a study on human nature. Much like the moon has a physical effect on the tides of our planet, it’s believed that you are impacted in a similar way based on when and where you were born. ‘When’ being the time and date, ‘where’ being the location on the planet Earth. And just like people track the location of the stars in the sky backwards and forwards in time to determine sun rise times, the phase of the moon, etc; Astrology tracks the ‘location’ of your birth respective to every other body in the heavens.

Your birth literally has a G(alaxy)PS location in the universe that is unique to you… (I mean, relatively unique, we’re pinpointing based on latitude and longitude essentially, not small city blocks; Bobby up the road might have been born at the exact same time in another hospital a couple miles away, so he’s going to have the same charting data.)

Where do we start? With Aries.

And why are we starting there? Because not everything is about Jesus, Karen!

But for real, the Zodiac Calendar (the breakdown / separation of the standard 12 Zodiac signs) begins with Aries in March. Why? Simple. Before our current calendar was forced upon most of the world, it was a lot like the Chinese New Year, which syncs to the Lunar Calendar. New Year was when Spring began; at the Spring Equinox. Our ancestors tracked the movement of the planet and called the ‘equinox’ the day when the hours of light and dark were equal, and would begin shifting back into longer days. Life, Sun, and warmth were returning to the Earth after a colder, darker winter (and there was much rejoicing).

Side note, yes, we’re using a system based on the Northern Hemisphere as this is where modern notions of astrology were developed. Do I understand that March in the Southern Hemisphere is their Fall Equinox? Yes. For the purposes of this conversation, do I care? No. Proceed forward with that in mind.

And you might ask yourself, ‘How did I get here?’…

Or… why is the ‘date’ of when the sign changes not always the same?

Well, again, it’s not based on our current calendar, but functions more similar to how GPS uses degrees of latitude and longitude to track you. If the Earth moves in cycles, a circle; a ‘wheel of the year,’ then it has 360 degrees. We start on the equinox when the day is in balance, that’s our Zero degree, and when you divide 360 into 12… you get 30 degrees. So, it’s a processional, or never ending circle, where every 30 degrees we shift into a new sign.

Astrology is studying observed patterns of human behavior, comparative to what was in the sky when you were born. Is there hard scientific data to back up these patterns?… Not really. At least, not yet. A long time ago, our ancestors watched and saw the tides rising and sinking. They didn’t always know why, but they could track a pattern. Humans are good at that. It’s one of our handy survival evolutions ::thumbs up::.

Eventually, we came to understand gravity and the Moon’s impact. But just because we couldn’t always understand it, doesn’t mean it wasn’t always happening. It wasn’t something primitive humans were imagining. The water was sure as shit rising and falling.

Do we know exactly how we’re being impacted by, not just the Moon, but the other planets and bodies in the sky? No. But the pattern is there. And if you can recognize the pattern… Well, it just might help you understand yourself and the people around you just a little bit better.

Each sign of the zodiac is named based on the constellation that was in the skies during that time frame. Aries is the Latin word for ‘ram.’ The people looking up at that sky thought that the constellation looked like ram horns.

Constellation naming is also weird…. I guess when you live in a world without the distraction of modern technology and spend, what was probably countless, hours staring up into the voids of space… you might see shit too. But that’s a whole other discussion we’re not going to delve into here.

The ‘natal’ or ‘birth’ chart is your personal G(alaxy)PS coordinates on paper. It charts the position of things in the sky when you were born. We refer to your ‘Sun’ sign as the constellation that the Sun was positioned in when you were born. Again, the sky is a circle, a big pie. Which slice of the pie was the Sun hanging out in when you were born? When you’re asked, ‘what’s your sign?,’ this is what most mean – ‘what is your Sun sign?’

You are impacted by all the things in your chart, not just the Sun’s position. However, it is the biggest body in the sky and carries with it the biggest weight in terms of impacting personality. Basic astrology typically focuses on that Sun sign.

    So, about Aries…..

Aries runs from about March 20th until April 20th.
    Its anima is the Ram.
The ram has big horns, and they’re not afraid to use them.

Aries are full of energy and fighting spirit. They’re always looking for a challenge. They thrive on competition. When there is no competition to be had, or conflict to partake in…. they might make some. They can pick a fight, not always out of anger, but out of boredom.

You know how some people love a good ‘Dare?’ That’s Aries.

Tell them they can’t do something? They’re going to do it, and make sure you see them do it. Tell them they shouldn’t do something? They laugh in the face of danger, throw caution to the wind, and do it anyway, just for fun.

Passionate. Excitable. Motivated. Driven. Energetic. … … Stubborn. Pig-headed. Argumentative. Reckless…. (This ‘two sides to every coin’ bit, is a running theme. We all have good and bad qualities. The goal is to mitigate as best you can.)

As an Aries, that passion and drive makes for great leadership. When most of us see someone excited and energetic, we tend to gravitate towards that person. That energy can translate into positivity and drive to achieve goals. That energy can also become restless and easily bored. Boredom can breed creation and innovation, invention. They want new and different and exciting, and they know sometimes they have to make it themselves.

They’re motivated by a challenge and they want to win.
Doesn’t matter what the game is, they want to win.

They take the love of competition usually reserved for sports and apply it to their entire lives.
Don’t tell them what to do or how to live their life. They’ll do whatever they want, and sometimes things they don’t want out of pure spite.

The tendency to have a temper can also create a fierce warrior when the need arises. When pushed, they’re not going to reach out their arms and push back. They’re going to get their car and run you down. They’re protective. When you are on the good side of an Aries, they will literally go to war with, and for you. End up on the other side of the battlefield… good luck.
